Monday's Three (Sept 30th)

Hey...happy last day of September!  Happy last day of the quarter too.  And let's just go there and say happy Monday too.  And I'm pretty sure this is a record...three Mondays in a row that I've blogged!  Woo Hoo!

  1. Almost two years ago I made a goal to keep weekends a little more mellow, to keep some time away for family and/or home time.  Time that isn't scheduled and doesn't even require a shower.  And for almost two years, I'd say I've been running an 80/20 success rate, which is good.  Know why?  Because it works.  Because I feel a little relaxed when it's Sunday night and time to go back to work.  And I even get some things done on my forever to-do list every once in a while.  This weekend was a fail.  I had a great time, celebrated some very cute kiddos, and saw some great friends.  But I also had no down time and I realized that I really like that, that I really miss it when it's not there.  Bonus--this weekend...NO PLANS.  And I'm excited.  And I'm leaving it that way.  Cause we deserve it.
  2. I still love Apple Hill.  We went again Sunday.  I understand it may qualify as a problem but its a problem I'm OK with.  Because in the week between my two trips this fall--yes, I went a week ago Saturday and then again eight days later, yesterday--the leaves started to change!  There was a hint of red here and there a week ago but yesterday there were so many more.  And it was beautiful and magical and I'm so glad that I'm in a position to see it with my dearest people (yep--that's what I'm calling Jason and Abby right now) and some dearest friends.  Hello Fall!  Welcome!  I'm ready!
  3. Three-year-olds apparently have hearing issues.  And yes, I've had her hearing tested.  And no, I may not survive.  Just saying.  And I think it's important to put it in writing somewhere so when we make the headlines because I check myself into the mental facility because she opened the refrigerator ONE MORE TIME to put freakin' dolls in there, friends and family will know it was coming and have the back story.
Again, happy Monday.  It's gonna be a good week, if today is predictive of the week.  I got so much done today!  And blogged!  And got a package ready to mail to my sweet sis!  Rockin' it friends, rockin' it!

Waka Waka Wednesday

My favorite thing about Pinterest is the Humor category.  I love it.  I can sit for too long, a typical complaint of Pinterest, smirking and giggling to myself.  When Aaron was pregnant and bedresting while growing the twins, I got in the habit of sending her little email everyday, usually with a collection of pictures from Pinterest.  So, Waka Waka Wednesday is dedicated to Aaron and the twin boys she grew with the help of a daily giggle instigated by their Aunt Sissy.  Happy Waka Waka Wednesday!

Oh my gosh we saw something almost exactly like this in Hawaii!!!!!

I NEED this.

Can't stop laughing

LMFAO.

And sometimes I just find something that is good:

What a great piece of advice.

Monday's Three (Sept 23rd)

In an attempt to be more intentional and consistent in my blogging, I'm trying themes.  What do you think?  All three of you who read this. :)  BTW, I love you guys!  I write this like I'm writing you directly... :)

1.  It's Apple Hill time!  I AM SO EXCITED (yes, yelling).  Abby, Mom and I went Saturday.  We had a great time!  There was a 60% chance of rain and it heavy-sprinkled for the first twenty minutes and then went straight to beautiful.  And we hit the rain on the way home, on its way up to Apple Hill.  Timing equaled perfection.

2.  I printed off a recipe plan last week--five days worth of crockpot meals.  There is a blog that I've stalked randomly over the years where this woman vowed to crockpot everyday for a whole year.  I'm pretty sure she did it and got the book deal and all that jazz.  Well--she published this idea and I thought what the heck, let's try it.  Here's the schedule: last night, Puffy Pizza (OK, but regular pizza is easier and better and since we have no dietary restrictions, going that way...), tonight was General Tso's Chicken with rice (very yummy), tomorrow night is Mom and Abby night so we'll do something easy, Wednesday night is Minestrone Soup, Thursday is Cranberry Roast and Friday or Sunday is Spinach Lasagna.  I thought the groceries were going to be crazy but they weren't.  This experiment could prove to be a good thing...wouldn't that be cool?!  crockpot365.blogspot.com

3.  Guess what premiers tonight...CASTLE!  Yah!  So excited!  I'm a fan in a big way.  In other TV-related nonsense, Jason and I finished the first season of New Girl last night.  I'm loving that too.  I really like the show but I'm also loving the snuggle time with Jason. :)  We have one more episode of Sherlock and we're done with what's on Netflix, but at 1.5 hours, it just feels like such a time suck.  And then I realize that when we sit and watch three New Girls, it's about the same thing.  Oh well! :)  Good times.

Happy Monday friends!

Last Words...plus some 9/17/2013

Abby and Mom nights (Tuesdays, Jason has choir) are part special part crazy.  She's fried from two days of school, I see an opportunity to get some things done while she zones out and we have mac and cheese.  All in all its usually a good night.  Tonight has been par for the course.  Except I'm currently distracting her with a little extra ipad lovin' so I can get the sheets on her bed changed (little accident last night but enough to gross me out).  So it'll be a little bit of later bed time for the little one tonight.  OK though because tomorrow is Memaw day.  And I'd pay her to sleep in a little longer--lately she's been waking up, barking like a dog, of course, at exactly three minutes before my alarm goes off.  That is the worst!

This will be boring for me but I need to see what I've done tonight:
Weekly goal--done.
Capri hem fixed--done.
Load of wash in dryer folded and put away--done.
Abby's sheets washed, dried and changed and dirty sheets in the washing machine started--done.

Happy Tuesday!

True!

Monday's Three

I'm pretty sure that's all I get today.  Does that have something to do with the fact that Abby is three?  Quite possibly.

  1. Parenting is hard.  I know this isn't a revelation to anyone who is in charge of a little person OR MORE--good heavens, awards need to be handed out to parents of more than one!  Maybe the third year of life is important to keep parents in line.  To keep us from feeling too over confident.  I do not feel over confident.  Well played Abby, well played.
  2. Thanks to some great info/advice from my dear friend Steph, I've been trying something new (cause it's what I do, right?).  I've picked one small thing that I want or need to get back into the habit of doing.  Two weeks down.  Last week was to get back to wearing my retainer (nothing's sexier, really).  This week I'm getting on the treadmill for at least five minutes.  Seems small but its more than nothing.  Here's to good habits.
  3. I LOVE FREEZER COOKING!  I made stuffed bell peppers tonight and they were great.  I think they are the perfect meal--no sides needed.  They have protein, dairy, veggies and starch.  But the really exciting part of the evening was cooking and freezing a pound of ground turkey and enough stuffing for another meal of stuffed bell peppers.  We currently don't have a drop of milk in the house but we've got dinners in the freezer.
Peace out loves!

Last Words 9/5/2013

Tonight I feel loved by friends; I have dear friends and am lucky to know them and get to share their lives.
