Monday's Three (Oct 28th)

Happy New Week Friends!
Here's what I've got for you today, this first day of the week.  A week that consists of being co-worker-less at work, Halloween, mom's book club (oh thank heavens!!) and Laurie Berkner in SF!

1. Saturday mom and I built the fire pit in our front yard.  If you haven't heard of my crazy plan, I thought it would be fun to put a fire pit in the front yard.  I love it.  Now I really want to just start a freakin' fire in my front yard already.  If you're ever in Woodland, be sure to look down our street and see if we're out and stop on by.  The more the merrier.
2. I'm liking The Michael J Fox Show.  I tried not to but kept being pulled back to it and now I like it.  Ugg!  It's quirky and I just like it.  But I didn't want to, I promise.
3. Abby is going to be Supergirl for Halloween.  Do you think we have one more where she believes us that Halloween is all about giving candy, not going to get candy?  I'll let you know.

I know that pictures would make this funner.  Like a picture of the firepit.  And a picture of Abby.  I'm working on it.

Monday's Three (Oct 21st)

1. In the last five days, Abby and I have gone to two different pumpkin patches.  We had so much fun out at Dave's in West Sac with our mom's group.  And my mom got to come with us.  And we spent a large chunk of time jumping on their huge jump balloon.  Then yesterday Jason and I took Abby to Impossible Acres in Davis to fall in love with the cutest collection of baby animals ever.  Two pumpkin patches and we did not bring home a single pumpkin.  Ha!  That kind of cracks me up.
2. We got kale in our CSA box last week, right after mom and I planted two different kinds in our lettuce gardens.  Because it's good for us but not because we love it.  So last night Abby and I made kale chips.  So good.  Abby kept sneaking more off the plate, she liked it so much.  The overwhelming winner was the olive oil and parmesan cheese mixture.  So yummy.  RECOMMEND!
3. Jason and I get on these binges where we watch tv shows on Netflix.  It's been some time since we've done it though, most recently trying Sherlock, which we loved but had a hard time getting through since they were so long.  I can't remember how it happened but we started watching New Girl.  And now we're melancholy because we finished season two and are all caught up.  We're somewhat embarrassed about how much we miss it.  But we also were reminded how much we like having a show to watch together.  Next up...we're thinking Arrested Development.

Note: I did this on my phone Wednesday night. And I thought I'd published it. Apparently not. Now to figure that out...

So...I don't have much in me after a week of Abby and I being sick. Here you go. Love you all!

Monday's Three (Oct 14th)

This week will be one of healing!  I declaring it!  Mostly because I totally believe that positive thinking works.  And I need healing.  Abby starting getting sick last Monday...which progressed to a double ear infection (one ruptured last night...lovely) and we now have a full round of antibiotics to get us on the right track.  And because Abby is a friendly and loves her people, she shared this crap with me so now I'm sick.  And last night's all-nighter, while Curious George distracted Abby from the rupturing of her ear drum, did not help with my healing.  Here's hoping for a better night tonight.

• Healing--it's not for wimps.  Eating well, sleeping enough, and taking care of yourself all takes effort, which isn't easy on a normal day, much less when you don't feel well.  I know what I'm saying isn't rocket science or something new.  It's just been made very clear to me in the past five days or so.
• Crocktober is going great!  We are four for four!  So yummy.  And while I'm finding I'm using more sugars than I usually do, I am also noticing that I'm using almost all "real" food and I like that.  Tonight's Orange Apricot Pork Chops were AWESOME.  Let me know if you want me to email you the lineup.  I'm loving the crockpotting going on in this here house.  Happiness.  And healing.
• Lettuce is planted and stones are collected for the fire pit.  Exciting.  Now I just hope that I have the energy, strength and time this weekend to play around with the positioning.  It's fall.  It's time for some fire and friends.  And for those of you local, it's going to be in our front yard so it'll be easy to swing by and join in the fun.  Look for the warm glow. :)

Waka Waka Wednesday Friends! (Oct 9)

Hello friends!  Happy Wednesday!  Is it just me or does it feel like we should be closer to Friday than just Wednesday night?  But it's OK...well...because it has to be.  My skills in changing time has come up lacking again and again.  So...I'm sticking to just going with the flow for now. :)  On to the fun stuff...happy Wednesday!

Monday's Three (Oct 7th)

Fall is here!  And I LOVE LOVE LOVE fall.  So I'm a happy girl.  Today we had a 30+ degree change.  Fall is here!  BRING IT!

1. I made a killer crockpot soup today.  http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2009/08/end-of-summer-harvest-soup-slow-cooker.html  All I can say is make it.  You will not regret it.  It's even worth buying the produce if you don't have a garden or friends with a garden or live where gardens have been done for a while.  So good.  The only change I made was that I put the whole can of sauce in instead of just a cup.  The taste was amazing!
2. The garden is cleaned up.  I love having a garden but hate cleaning it up so this is huge.  By the time it's time to clean it up, there are bugs.  And I'm not a huge rotten-fruit-bug fan.  But it's done.  And I'm glad.  And considering it a major YAH in my book.
3. I have book club this week and I haven't read the book and am about a third through next months'.  Wrong order, I know.  But the that's what a girl has to do when there is a crazy wait on next months' book and my turn comes up.  So...I'll be prepared for next month and this month I just get to love on my girls.

This has always been true for me. :)  And I've also learned some of the best things from mistakes I've made.
